Nietzsche: The Antichrist [00:13] koji     If I may, I'd like to pose this question: [00:17] koji     Are human beings truly equal? [00:20] koji     Nowadays, people never shut up     about the need for equality. [00:26] koji     A great man once said, "Heaven does not     create one person above or below another." [00:33] koji     But the quote doesn't end there. [00:36] koji     It actually says we're equal     at birth, but then gaps appear. [00:40] koji     That the differences are the result of     one's academic efforts, or lack thereof. [00:47] koji     At any rate, humans are capable     of thinking for themselves. [00:52] koji     "Equality" may be a false concept, [00:56] koji     but our inequality remains     a difficult thing to accept. [01:01] kushi     Excuse me... Could you give up your seat? [01:06] kushi     That's a priority seat. I think you should     let this elderly lady sit there. [01:13] taka     My, my, pretty girl. [01:15] taka     While it may be a priority seat, there is     no law requiring me to relinquish it. [01:20] taka     You want me to give up my     seat just because I am young? [01:24] taka     Nonsense, pure and simple. [01:27] taka     Even if I am young, standing consumes     more stamina than sitting. [01:31] taka     Why should I do something so detrimental     with no benefit to myself? [01:36] kushi     I think you'd be contributing to society. [01:39] kushi     And this lady seems to be     having trouble staying upright... [01:43] taka     I have no interest in contributing to society. [01:47] taka     Besides... [01:49] taka     What about those sitting in the other seats? [01:53] taka     The difference between priority seats     and others seems rather trivial to me. [01:59] woman     Really, I'm fine. [02:03] woman     But thank you. [02:07] kushi     Excuse me! Would any of you     be willing to give up your seat? [02:19] woman     Um, you can have mine. [02:21] kushi     Thank you so much! SIGN    Disembarking [02:46] aya     So this is my new school? SIGN    Entrance     Ceremony [02:52] aya     Tokyo Metropolitan Advanced     Nurturing High School. [02:55] aya     A school established by the     Japanese government [02:57] aya     to nurture the young people who will     support the country in the future. [03:02] aya     It boasts a 100% employment     and college entry rate, [03:06] aya     and with thorough, state-directed     teaching methods, [03:08] aya     it spares no effort in pursuing     the nation's desired future. [03:11] hori     Excuse me. [03:15] hori     You were looking at me on the bus. Why? [03:20] aya     Oh. Sorry. [03:24] aya     It was because you, like me, didn't     seem interested in giving up your seat. [03:28] aya     So you don't like to get involved     in stuff like that either, huh? [03:32] hori     Don't assume I'm like you. [03:34] hori     I held on to my seat as     a matter of conviction. [03:37] aya     Uh, doesn't that make you even worse? [03:40] hori     If you have no business with me, fine. [03:49] hashi     Now we'll have a few words from     the student council president. [03:53] mana     I am the student council     president, Horikita Manabu. [03:58] mana     As a representative of the upper classes, [04:01] mana     I would like to extend words of     welcome to our newest students. [04:07] mana     As I believe you know, our school is     highly accomplished in all aspects, [04:12] mana     and boasts a high employment     and college entry rate. [04:16] mana     This is the pride of our school,     accomplished through the hard work [04:20] mana     of both our graduating students     and those still attending. [04:24] mana     We expect the same from the new students. [04:27] aya     We're in the same class? [04:28] mana     Everything in this school     is decided by merit... [04:34] kushi     I see! What genre do you like best? [04:38] girl     Oh, what genre? Well... I like romance! [04:42] girl     Oh, really? [04:42] girl     Stuff like shojo manga... [04:44] girl     Really? I like mysteries! [04:47] ---     Mysteries?! [04:48] girl     Surprising, huh? [04:48] girl     Yeah! [04:49] ---     I get that a lot! [04:50] aya     I'm seated next to her? [04:53] hori     An unpleasant coincidence. [04:54] aya     I feel the same way. [04:56] hira     Everyone, may I have a moment? [04:59] hira     I was hoping we could all introduce ourselves [05:01] hira     to get a jump on getting better acquainted. [05:05] hira     The teacher doesn't seem     to be here yet, anyway. [05:08] hira     How about it? [05:09] girl     I'm in! [05:10] karu     Sounds fun. [05:11] sato     Yeah. I don't even know anyone's names. [05:15] hira     Thanks. Okay, I'll go first. [05:19] hira     I'm Hirata Yosuke. [05:20] hira     Just call me Yosuke. No need for formality. [05:23] hira     I play all kinds of sports, and I intend     to join the soccer club at this school. [05:28] hira     Nice to meet you all! [05:30] all     Sounds good! [05:30] aya     I bet he'll end up being the class leader. [05:33] kushi     I'll go next! [05:36] kushi     My name is Kushida Kikyo. [05:39] kushi     My goal is to become friends     with each and every one of you! [05:42] kushi     I'd like to make lots of good memories,     so don't hesitate to invite me anywhere! [05:48] all     Looking forward to it! [05:50] aya     She'll be popular with both guys and girls. [05:51] ike     Me next! I'm Ike Kanji! [05:53] aya     She's already got that "I can be     friends with anyone" aura about her. [05:54] ike     I love girls, and I hate hot guys! [05:57] aya     But I guess this is no time to be critical. [05:57] ike     I'm always accepting     new girlfriend applications! [06:01] aya     These introductions will determine     everyone's standing in the class. [06:02] yama     I'm Yamauchi Haruki. [06:04] yama     In elementary school, I went     to nationals in ping-pong. [06:06] aya     Should I try for a joke? [06:07] yama     In middle school, I was the baseball     club's ace and cleanup hitter. [06:08] aya     I bet I can get a big laugh     if I'm really energetic. [06:09] yama     I'm still recovering from an injury     I got during the Inter-high. [06:12] aya     Or maybe I'd just creep everyone out. [06:12] boys     Oh, wow! The Inter-high, in middle school? [06:15] aya     It's not like I have any     hobbies or talents, anyway. [06:19] aya     I'm just a white bird, flying free. [06:22] hira     Next up... you! [06:26] aya     Huh? Me? [06:32] aya     No getting around it. [06:33] aya     I'd better muster up the energy     to introduce myself. [06:37] aya     For the sake of my school life. [06:40] aya     Uh... [06:42] aya     Um... [06:43] aya     I'm Ayanokoji Kiyotaka. [06:45] aya     Uh... [06:47] aya     I look forward to studying with you. [06:50] aya     Ah, um... [06:53] aya     I'm not good at anything in particular. [06:55] aya     Uh... [06:57] aya     I'll work hard to get along with everyone. [07:04] aya     I blew it. [07:06] hira     Nice to meet you, Ayanokoji-kun. [07:10] hira     Let's be good friends. [07:14] aya     She laughed at me. [07:15] hira     Okay, next up... [07:18] sumi     Introductions? Please. [07:20] sumi     What are we, little kids? [07:22] sumi     Do that if you want, but leave us out of it. [07:24] cha     Everyone... [07:27] cha     Take your seats. [07:32] cha     I'm Chabashira Sae, and I'm the     homeroom teacher for Class D. [07:37] cha     There will be no changing     of classes in this school. [07:39] cha     I will be responsible for you for the     next three years, until you graduate. [07:45] cha     First, I'll hand out the school rule book. [07:48] cha     Take one and pass it back. [07:52] cha     We have special rules at this school. [07:56] cha     First, you will live in dorms     and, while at school, [07:59] cha     your ability to leave campus and contact     the outside world will be limited. [08:04] cha     But don't worry. [08:06] cha     The school offers a variety of facilities. [08:09] cha     Everything you need can be found     here, including entertainment. [08:15] cha     To buy things, you'll use points stored     in the school's official computer system. [08:20] cha     At this school, you can     buy anything using points. [08:25] cha     Points are allotted on     the first of each month. [08:28] cha     One point is worth one yen. [08:30] cha     You have already been allotted     100,000 points for this month. [08:36] yama     100,000? [08:37] ike     Are you serious? [08:40] cha     Are you surprised by the     size of your allotment? [08:43] cha     This school judges students based on merit. [08:47] cha     You are attributed significant value     just for being accepted here. [08:55] woman     Thank you very much! [08:57] aya     It really does work like money. [09:00] aya     Twenty-five students per class,     and four classes per grade... [09:05] aya     That makes 300 students total. [09:07] aya     If each student gets 100,000 yen per month, [09:10] aya     that's 360 million per year. [09:13] aya     Strange, even if it is government-funded... [09:20] hori     Another unpleasant coincidence. [09:22] aya     You don't have to be so twitchy. [09:27] aya     Well, since we sit beside each other,     we should at least get along. [09:31] aya     What's your name? [09:35] aya     You can tell me that much, can't you? [09:38] hori     Is it a problem if I refuse to answer? [09:40] aya     No, but it's unsettling not to know the     name of the person sitting beside me. [09:49] hori     It's Horikita Suzune. [09:51] aya     Horikita? [09:53] aya     Like the student council president? [09:59] aya     You're buying lots of cheap stuff. [10:02] aya     You have a lot of money, though. [10:03] aya     You could buy more expensive— [10:04] hori     I don't need it. [10:06] aya     But— [10:07] hori     I don't need it, I told you. [10:10] aya     Right. [10:11] hori     You don't seem very good     at interacting with people. [10:15] hori     You're a lousy conversationalist. [10:17] aya     That's true, although you     don't seem much better. [10:21] hori     True. But I, for one, feel     no need to make friends. SIGN    Items on this table     FREE Up to three per month [10:27] hori     Free? [10:29] aya     I guess it's to help people     who use up their points? [10:33] hori     On top of 100,000 yen a month? [10:36] hori     This school is quite indulgent. [10:37] sugi     You looking down on me? Huh?! [10:39] boy     You're in Class 1-D, aren't you? [10:43] sugi     And what if I am?! [10:45] boy     Now, that's no way to talk to your seniors. [10:50] sugi     Shut up! [10:50] aya     Huh? [10:51] boy     I don't care if you're my seniors! [10:51] aya     He's from our class, isn't he? [10:53] boy     You want to fight or not?! [10:53] hori     My integrity would take a dive     if I involved myself in that. [10:55] boy     I'll take all three of you! [10:57] sugi     Bring it on! [10:59] boy     We'll let you off easy today. [11:01] boy     You guys are already defective losers. [11:03] boy     If we knocked you any lower,     you'd just be pathetic. [11:05] sugi     Are you running away?! [11:07] boy     Scream all you want. [11:08] boy     The real hell is yet to come     for you people, anyway. [11:12] aya     Hell? [11:14] sugi     Damn it! [11:38] aya     It wasn't long before groups     began to form within the class. [11:42] mi     Kikyo-chan, let's get lunch together! [11:46] kushi     Sorry, I've got some things to do. [11:48] gai     'Twas a mere 80,000! We're to receive     100,000 every month, after all! [11:53] ike     I bought tons of mobile games! [11:56] matsu     I saw this accessory I really liked. [11:56] yama     Sounds good! I'll buy some,     too, and we can battle! [11:58] karu     Want to stop by after class? [11:59] karu     I wanna buy clothes, too. [12:02] aya     I failed at making friends. [12:05] hori     You're pitiful. [12:08] aya     You're alone, too. [12:10] hori     Yes, because I like to be alone. [12:18] aya     Maybe I'll hit up the cafeteria... [12:22] kushi     Um... Ayanokoji-kun, right? [12:25] aya     Yeah. Um... [12:28] aya     Kushida? [12:29] kushi     Thanks! [12:31] kushi     I'm so glad you remembered my name! [12:33] aya     Yeah... I guess. [12:35] kushi     Um... Can we talk? SIGN    Tokyo Metropolitan Advanced Nurturing High School SIGN    At this school, each student will have their own points to be used in place of money     when buying goods and services.     There is nothing, within the realm of reason, that cannot be bought on campus     using points. [12:47] kushi     Ayanokoji-kun, you seem very     close to Horikita-san. [12:51] aya     No, I wouldn't say that... [12:53] kushi     But you're the only one she ever talks to. [12:58] kushi     I want to be friends with everyone in school. [13:03] kushi     So I asked Horikita-san for     her contact information, [13:06] kushi     but she turned me down... [13:17] kushi     Won't you help me? [13:20] aya     Help you? I don't... [13:22] kushi     You... won't? [13:27] cha     The head of the Yamato government     was known as the "o-kimi." [13:31] cha     He controlled the powerful families of     each region using the uji-kabane system. [13:35] cha     "Uji" referred to groups that     shared the same bloodline, [13:39] cha     while "kabane" referred to post and status. [13:42] cha     In other words, it was a system where     bloodline determined one's post and status. [13:48] cha     That's all for today. [13:49] cha     Please review the material thoroughly. [14:02] hori     This school really is indulgent. [14:05] hori     Students play around and nap in class,     but the teacher never calls them out. [14:10] hori     Is this really an advanced     school run by the government? [14:14] aya     Maybe they want to encourage     student autonomy. [14:18] hori     Perhaps... [14:21] aya     Hey. If you're on your way out,     would you come with me? [14:26] hori     What are you after? [14:28] aya     Does an invitation from me     suggest an ulterior motive? [14:31] hori     If you'll tell me specifically what you     want, I'd be willing to hear you out. [14:36] aya     You know that café in the mall, right? [14:38] aya     The one where lots of girls hang out. [14:40] aya     Would you go there with me? [14:43] hori     Why me? [14:45] aya     I'm not brave enough to go by myself. [14:48] aya     It feels sort of "no boys allowed." [14:51] hori     And there's no one else you can ask?     No, I suppose not... [14:55] aya     It pains me to say it, but you're right. [15:12] hori     It's quite crowded. [15:13] aya     Is this your first time coming here, too? [15:15] aya     Ah, right. You're a loner. [15:18] hori     Was that a dig? You child. [15:21] aya     That table's free. [15:27] aya     You know, I wonder if we look     like a couple to the oth— [15:33] aya     Yeah, probably not. [15:36] aya     Thinking of what's about to happen     is making my stomach hurt. [15:38] mi     Ready to go? [15:39] i     Yeah. [15:42] kushi     Horikita-san! [15:44] kushi     What a coincidence! [15:45] kushi     You, too, Ayanokoji-kun! [15:47] kushi     Do you two come here often? [15:49] aya     Today's our first time. [15:51] kushi     I see. [15:52] kushi     I'm here alone— [15:53] hori     I'm leaving. [15:55] aya     Hey, we only just got here. [15:58] hori     If Kushida-san is here,     you don't need me, do you? [16:01] aya     Well... Kushida and I are just classmates. [16:06] hori     That's all you and I are, too. [16:08] hori     Besides... [16:10] hori     I don't like this. What are you after? [16:13] kushi     C-Come on, it was just a coincidence... [16:17] aya     Kushida, you should have said,     "What's that supposed to mean?" [16:21] hori     The girls who were sitting here,     and the two at the next table over, [16:25] hori     were all students from Class D. [16:28] hori     Coincidence? [16:29] aya     I'm impressed you recognized them. [16:31] aya     I didn't even notice. [16:33] hori     We came here right after class ended, [16:37] hori     which means they could only have     been in this café for a few minutes. [16:41] hori     Too soon for them to be leaving. [16:45] kushi     Um... [16:49] aya     I'm sorry. We set you up. [16:52] kita     I thought as much. [16:53] kushi     Horikita-san! Please be my friend! [18:14] kushi     But this school is pretty amazing, huh? [18:17] kushi     There are so many stores, and we     get 100,000 yen each month... [18:21] aya     That amount seems a bit     excessive to me, though. [18:25] kushi     Yeah... You think so, too? [18:28] kushi     And calling them points makes me     spend them without thinking. [18:51] aya     Yeah, Horikita was doing the same thing. [18:54] kushi     Oh? [18:55] kushi     So you know how Horikita-san     spends her money? [18:59] kushi     You really are close, aren't you? [19:29] aya     100,000 per month, huh? [19:34] aya     Most students decided to make     the most of their school lives, [19:37] aya     without thinking too deeply about anything. [19:40] aya     Day after day, they blew through their monthly     allowance of 100,000 like it was nothing. [19:46] aya     The teacher was very lenient, [19:50] aya     so in-class conversations, napping, tardiness,     and absences became a daily occurrence. [19:54] aya     Extravagance, debauchery,     and indolence were rampant. [19:59] aya     And then, May 1st arrived. [20:03] sa     Huh? What's going on? [20:06] ike     Really? You, too? [20:07] karu     How come? [20:13] cha     Take your seats. [20:15] cha     Morning homeroom will now begin. [20:19] yama     Hey, teacher, we didn't get our points! [20:23] yama     We're supposed to get them on the     first day of the month, right? [20:27] cha     No, this month's points have     already been allotted. [20:32] yama     But... [20:34] cha     The points have been allotted. [20:36] cha     I can say that for certain. [20:38] cha     There is no chance that this class     has been overlooked, either. [20:42] ike     But we didn't get any points! [20:45] all     Yeah! [20:50] cha     What a bunch of idiots you are. [20:55] cha     A combined total of 98 tardies and absences. [20:59] cha     391 instances of talking     and cell phone usage in class. [21:05] cha     Quite a month's work. [21:08] cha     At this school, your grades     and performance evaluations [21:11] cha     are reflected in the monthly     points you're given. [21:15] cha     My assessment of you [21:17] cha     has resulted in the loss of all     100,000 points you were to be given. [21:22] cha     The points you're receiving for this month... SIGN    Regarding what you posted on the message board, I don't know anything about the other two, but I do know Ishizaki Daichi. We went to school in the same area during middle school. During that time, Ishizaki was known as a real troublemaker. He apparently threatened students at other schools and shook them down constantly. He was actually good in a fight, too, so everyone was afraid of him. We weren't at the same school so I don't know all the details, but I heard rumors that he even struck upperclassmen and teachers. A friend of mine was injured in one of these incidents. He's an all-brawn, no-brains punk and a really bad character. I wonder how a delinquent like him even got into this school. [15:01] ichi     Apparently one of the boys     Sudo-kun fought with, [15:03] ichi     Ishizaki-kun, was pretty     wild in middle school. [15:07] kushi     It says he was good in a fight, too,     and everyone in the area was afraid of him. [15:12] kan     If the other two are in the basketball     club, they're probably pretty strong. [15:15] kan     It doesn't add up that [15:17] kan     Sudo would be able to beat up     all three without taking a hit. [15:20] ichi     That's true... [15:21] kan     It's possible that they     wanted him to beat them up. [15:24] kan     If they did this to set Sudo up,     things would make a lot more sense. [15:29] ichi     I agree. [19:20] kushi     Do you understand what     Horikita-san was talking about? [19:28] aya     Even if what happened was self-defense,     that's not the root of the problem. [19:36] aya     Sudo is always talking trash and lashing out. [19:41] aya     He acts in a way that     inevitably earns resentment. [19:44] aya     He makes a terrible impression     on those around him. [19:48] aya     Let's say that a murder takes place. [19:50] aya     There are two suspects. [20:05] aya     They might not actually be so. [20:08] aya     But with so little evidence to go on, [20:11] aya     people have to make decisions     based on what they have. [20:14] kushi     You're saying Sudo-kun brought this on     himself with his history and behavior? [20:20] aya     And Sudo doesn't feel     he's done anything wrong. [17:47] saka     Despite your pictures,     you have no definitive proof. [17:50] saka     However, it does appear that the Class C     students may bear some responsibility... [17:57] saka     A two-week suspension for Sudo-kun, [18:00] saka     and a one-week suspension for the     Class C students. How about it? [18:05] saka     The difference in punishment is based     on the difference in harm done to them. [19:18] hori     In regards to the incident     we're discussing right now, [19:21] hori     I believe that Sudo-kun is free of guilt. [19:30] hori     Because this was not an unfortunate incident     that just happened to take place, [19:35] hori     but an intentional set-up     instigated by Class C. [19:40] hori     I assert Sudo-kun's complete     innocence in the matter. [19:47] saka     An intentional set-up? [19:49] saka     How funny. [19:51] saka     I think the president's little sister is— [19:53] hori     As the witness testified,     Sudo-kun is a victim. [19:56] hori     Please make the correct judgment. [19:59] omi     We're the victims, Mr. President! [20:02] sudo     Shut the hell up! Listen up— [20:09] mana     As I thought, this was a waste of time. He also earned the trust of students and teachers as a central figure in     his middle school class. In both personality and abilities, he could be considered excellent, so many wonder why he     was placed in Class D, the class of defectives. Kind and attractive, he's very popular with girls. This popularity is     limited not just to those in his own class, but earns him attention from girls in other classes, as well. At the moment,     he's dating Karuizawa Kei, a central figure among the Class D girls. He is often seen with her around school. [04:13] hori     A central figure among the Class D boys, [04:15] hori     and above average both     in grades and in sports. [04:18] hori     He's also gregarious. [04:20] hori     I'm unable to grasp why he was     placed into the "loser" Class D. [04:25] hira     Horikita-san, [04:27] hira     why don't you come hang out with your     Class D friends from time to time? [04:30] hori     I have no need for that. [04:32] hori     It would be significantly more effective     to use the time studying or reading. [04:36] karu     Oh, is that so? [04:38] karu     Let's go, Hirata-kun. [04:40] karu     I guess Horikita-san doesn't     want to talk to us. [04:43] hira     See you around, Horikita-san. [04:46] hori     I don't need close companions. SIGN    Kushida Kikyo     One of the central figures among the Class D girls. She claims she wants to befriend everyone in the school, and     has friends among students of every class, year, and sex. Her good looks and cheerful demeanor mean she's naturally     popular with men, but she's popular with women, too. This may be because she takes a lot of time to interact     with her fellow girls, and is very caring toward them. Many students respect her, which means she has tremendous     influence within the class. She also does well in both athletics and academics. On top of that, her communication     skills are excellent. She achieved the top grade in the class on the interview portion of her entrance exam. [05:08] hori     But... I think she hates me. [05:12] kushi     I was hoping we could use this     trip to get closer. Okay? [05:17] hori     But why is it that when she hates someone,     she tries to get closer to them? She normally would have been in Class A, but certain circumstances     forced her into Class B instead. Cheerful, forthright, and honest, she is respected by both students and     teachers alike. Of further note is her extreme popularity. Class B has greater friendship and interpersonal     unity than other classes, and this is in great part due to her efforts. She is extremely beautiful, but she     doesn't seem to be aware of it. At the moment, Class B and Class D are on friendly terms. [07:15] hori     The central figure of Class B. [02:51] aya     You use a superabsorbent polymer     sheet to solidify waste. [02:54] aya     Each can be used numerous times. [02:57] aya     But... [02:58] aya     It might be hard on the women. [03:00] hori     Likely. [03:01] ike     Come on, we can tough it out     with the toilet, at least! [03:04] karu     Excuse me! I'm telling you that     some girls might not be able to! [03:09] hira     A regular toilet is one thing     we can buy with points. [03:14] karu     This is great! [03:16] hase     Yeah! [03:16] sat     We totally need it! [03:17] hara     Let's buy that toilet! [03:18] yuki     We shouldn't be able to spend     points without a majority vote. [03:23] ike     A majority vote? Great idea, Yukimura! [03:27] ike     This is our big chance     to score class points! [03:30] ike     We don't need a toilet! [03:32] yuki     Women are too emotional. [03:35] yuki     We can't just indulge     their every whim, Hirata. [03:38] karu     What did you say? [03:40] ike     The basic toilet is totally functional! [03:40] hira     Calm down. Let's not fight. [03:42] girl     Think about how we feel! [03:44] hori     This test is sounding much more complicated     and difficult than I thought it would be. [03:56] aya     Ike, Yamauchi, and Sudo went off on their own [04:00] aya     to look for a campground and spots. [04:05] aya     You're not enjoying this? [04:06] hori     This isn't exactly my forte. [04:09] hori     Both living in this primitive way, [04:12] hori     and having to be around other people. [04:14] aya     I suppose that's true. [04:16] hori     I guess the things you     said to me have come true. [04:23] hori     That they would test us on     things besides academics. [04:26] hori     That's what you said to me. [04:28] aya     Yeah. [04:29] hori     Ike-kun and Sudo-kun     volunteered to go searching. [04:34] hori     That's something I couldn't do. [04:37] aya     Will you be all right, though? [04:41] hori     Why do you ask? [04:43] hori     If Class A and Class B are     focusing on taking the spots, [04:48] hori     we should do the same. [04:49] aya     Aiming for a higher class sure is tough. [04:52] hori     Don't you want it? [04:54] aya     Want what? [04:56] hori     A guarantee of the job     or university you want. [04:59] hori     I'd assumed anyone who came to this school     did so to guarantee that privilege. [05:09] hira     A class of over twenty with a single     basic toilet they're not used to using... [05:14] hira     You really think we can manage     that without any problems? [05:17] yuki     Well... if we can make the best of it... [05:19] hira     Sharing a single basic toilet     is guaranteed to cause issues. [05:23] hira     I think spending points in moderation [05:25] hira     is the most efficient way to do this. [05:27] hira     Reckless self-deprivation will     build up stress and uncertainty. [05:32] hira     It may cause hygiene issues, too. [05:34] hira     It'll give the girls peace of mind     as they engage with this test, too. [05:40] yuki     That's true... [05:41] aya     He won't argue against logic like that. [05:46] hira     I think we should start searching     for a base camp area, too. [05:50] karu     You think so? [05:52] hira     Where we decide to set up may influence     how we have to spend our points. [05:57] hira     Is there anyone who'll     go searching with me? [06:06] kushi     Well, if you'll have me... [06:12] aya     Coming? [06:14] hori     I'll pass. [06:16] hori     But you, volunteering? That's a surprise. [06:22] aya     Not taking a role makes you     stand out from the group. [06:26] hira     Thanks, Sakura-san. [06:28] hira     That's nine. Let's proceed in teams of three. [06:45] koen     Ah, beautiful! [06:47] koen     Conducting myself serenely in the midst     of nature, I am truly beautiful! [06:51] koen     This is ultimate beauty! [06:54] aya     Excellent athletic ability. [06:56] aya     No signs of reticence in dealing     with the outdoors, either. [06:59] aya     What's his deal? [07:01] sak     Ayanokoji-kun... [07:03] sak     It's hard to walk in the forest, huh? [07:07] aya     And it's hot, on top of that. [07:10] aya     Will you be okay, Sakura? [07:12] sak     Yeah, I'm just fine. [07:15] aya     Sakura, let's pick up the pace. [07:17] sak     O-Okay... [07:19] sak     K-Koenji-kun is amazing, huh? [07:21] sak     No mere forest can stop me! [07:21] sak     It's not just his athletic prowess. [07:24] sak     He does everything with     absolute confidence, too. [07:27] aya     Koenji. [07:28] aya     Don't go too fast, or... [07:31] koen     No need to worry. [07:33] koen     A forest like this is no problem! [07:37] aya     What's that supposed to mean? [07:38] koen     As long as it's during the day, [07:40] koen     there's a very low chance of getting lost     while wandering in a forest like this one. [07:45] koen     That's why it intrigues me so. [07:50] aya     He keeps moving faster. [07:52] aya     Koenji... [07:53] sak     D-Don't worry, I'm fine... [08:05] aya     Lost sight of him... [08:06] aya     At how many kilometers per hour     was he flying through the air? [08:10] sak     Is this a path, do you think? [08:14] aya     It looks like it. [08:18] sak     Wow... [08:20] sak     Do you think this is a spot? [08:23] aya     Most likely. [08:25] (Flashback) cha     There are multiple spots on the island. [08:28] (Flashback) cha     Each time you declare possession of     a spot, you earn one bonus S-point. [08:34] (Flashback) cha     However, you can't spend bonus     points during the test period. [08:38] (Flashback) cha     They'll be added to your class     points after the test is over. [08:42] (Flashback) cha     Each declaration of possession     of a spot lasts eight hours. [08:46] (Flashback) cha     Only the class leader has the     authority to declare possession. [08:49] (Flashback) hira     Class leader? [08:51] (Flashback) cha     Yes. [08:53] (Flashback) cha     The key card needed to take possession     of a spot will be given to your leader. [08:58] (Flashback) cha     Also, you can't change leaders     without a legitimate reason. [09:03] (Flashback) cha     In addition... [09:05] (Flashback) cha     On the last day, when we take roll, [09:09] (Flashback) cha     for each class leader you correctly identify, [09:12] (Flashback) cha     your class will gain 50 bonus points. [09:16] (Flashback) sak     50 bonus points? [09:18] (Flashback) sudo     So if we can guess A, B, and C's     leaders, we'll get 150 bonus points? [09:21] (Flashback) cha     However, for each one you guess     wrong, you lose 50 S-points. [09:26] (Flashback) cha     High risk, high return. [09:29] (Flashback) cha     You can search for other class leaders, [09:31] (Flashback) cha     and make efforts to hide     your own class leader. [09:36] aya     Spots are important, I guess... [09:39] aya     But moving too hastily to secure them [09:42] aya     will reveal your leader to others. [10:04] ya     We got lucky, huh, Katsuragi-san? [10:06] ya     Securing a spot this early... [10:09] kat     Lucky? [10:10] kat     I had my eye on this since     before we made landfall. [10:13] kat     It was inevitable that we'd find it. [10:15] kat     Also, be careful what you say and do. [10:19] ya     R-Right... [10:21] kat     We don't know when or where     others might be listening. [10:23] kat     Take care to avoid even     the slightest mistakes. [10:27] kat     As leader, I have a     responsibility to manage you. [10:30] ya     S-Sorry... [10:33] kat     Before we docked, the boat did one lap     around the island from a distance. [10:39] kat     That was a hint. [10:40] ya     A hint? [10:42] kat     From the deck of the boat, I could     see the paths cut through the forest. [10:46] kat     From there, it was just a matter     of finding the shortest routes. [10:49] ya     You could see what the school was trying to do? [10:52] ya     Brilliant, as usual... [10:54] ya     Sakayanagi won't have much     to say to that, will she? [10:57] kat     Quiet down, Yahiko. [10:59] ya     Katsuragi-san? [11:20] ya     U-Um... [11:22] kat     It's nothing. [11:23] kat     Let's move on. We shouldn't stay here long. [11:32] aya     That was a close call, I guess. [11:35] aya     Sorry, Sakura. [11:38] aya     Sakura? [11:41] aya     Are you okay? [11:43] sak     I'm f-f-fine! SIGN    Summer Special Test Rules SIGN    During this test, each class will be granted 300 test points.     Among other things, test points can be spent to purchase items listed in the manual.     In addition, bonus points acquired during the test by fulfilling certain conditions will only be added on after the test is finished. They cannot be used during the test. [11:55] aya     Those two were from Class A, weren't they? [11:58] sak     Y-Yeah... [12:04] sak     H-Hey, Ayanokoji-kun... [12:06] sak     Does this mean that guy was their leader? [12:10] sak     W-We just learned an incredible secret, huh? [12:13] aya     I'll report it to Hirata later. [12:17] hori     Koenji-kun got ahead of you? [12:20] aya     Yeah. [12:21] aya     That guy is beyond my power     to keep under control. [12:24] aya     I'm sure you're aware of that. [12:26] hira     Good news, everyone! [12:28] hira     Ike-kun and the others found     a spot at the head of a river. [12:32] hira     Let's meet up with them! [12:35] ike     Here it is! [12:37] ike     The spot we found! [12:43] karu     The water's so clear! [12:49] kushi     It's so pretty! [12:50] hira     Thanks. [12:50] hara     It's surprisingly cool! [12:51] hira     You're amazing, Ike-kun. [12:52] soto     You think we can drink it? [12:53] ike     I know, right? [12:57] aya     So that's it... [12:58] aya     Only the leader of each class     can take possession of a spot. SIGN    Only the class currently in possession of     this spot is allowed to use this location. [13:05] hira     Assuming we want to use     this as our base camp, [13:08] hira     the question is whether or not     to take possession of it. [13:11] ike     We should, shouldn't we? [13:12] ike     If we do, we can use the river,     and we'll get points every eight hours! [13:17] hira     Yeah. But that means the leader needs     to renew possession every eight hours. [13:23] karu     That's right. And if another class sees that... [13:26] yama     Can't we just, like,     surround them while they do it? [13:29] hira     Good idea! [13:31] hira     What do you guys think? [13:32] matsu     Yeah, that sounds good! [13:33] yuki     We have plenty of people. [13:33] hase     That should work. [13:35] ---     Just form a ring around them! [13:36] yama     No one'll see it! [13:38] hira     Then the last question to answer is,     who'll be the leader? [13:41] mita     Let's see... [13:42] mi     I think it should be Hirata-kun! [13:44] soto     No, I think I should— [13:45] kushi     Hey, guys, can I say something? [13:51] kushi     I've been thinking about it... [13:53] kushi     People like Hirata-kun and     Karuizawa-san stand out, [13:55] kushi     whether they mean to or not. [13:57] kushi     But the person entrusted     with the role of leader [13:59] kushi     needs to be someone responsible, right? [14:03] kushi     I think the only person who     meets both requirements [14:07] kushi     is Horikita-san. [14:10] kushi     What about you guys? [14:14] hira     I'm in favor. [14:16] hira     If you'll accept the role, Horikita-san,     I'd like you to take it. [14:19] hira     What do you think? [14:23] sudo     If she doesn't want to, I'll do it. [14:25] hori     Fine. [14:27] hori     I'll do it. [14:30] sudo     I see... [14:41] ike     Okay! That solves the bathing     and drinking water problem, huh? [14:46] hira     I guess so. [14:48] hira     I mean, it does look drinkable... [14:50] karu     Are you sure it's okay? [14:53] karu     Drinking water from a river... [14:54] hara     You think it's safe? [14:55] hase     Really? [14:56] ike     What's wrong with you guys? [14:58] ike     We found an actual river! There's no     way we're not gonna use it, right? [15:02] hira     We have time.     There's no need to decide so hastily. [15:06] karu     Yeah! [15:08] ---     He's right. [15:08] ---     It's kinda scary, huh? [15:15] aya     Ike, do you have experience outdoors? [15:17] ike     I used to go camping with     my family when I was little. [15:23] ike     I have no problem with drinking river water. [15:29] ike     You can tell a spring's purity     just by looking at it. [15:43] hira     Ayanokoji-kun, could I have a moment? [15:47] hira     I'd like you to find some branches we can     use for a campfire before it gets dark. [15:51] aya     Okay. I'll find some. [15:54] hira     Wait! It's dangerous to go alone! [15:56] aya     I'll find someone. [16:00] hori     Despite being the class's central figure, [16:02] hori     he has to rely on you. It's pathetic, isn't it? [16:07] aya     Why don't you help out a bit, "leader"? [16:10] hori     There's nothing I can help with. [16:13] hori     Though if an enemy or an objective     shows itself, I can offer my thoughts. [16:17] aya     Hey, I'm gathering branches... [16:36] yama     Hey, Ayanokoji. [16:37] yama     I think I'm gonna go after Sakura. [16:40] yama     Since Kushida-chan's out of my league. [16:43] aya     Come on... [16:44] yama     With a girl like Sakura, [16:46] yama     if I can play the kind, caring guy,     I think she'll fall for me! [16:51] aya     Is that why you came along for this? [16:56] yama     Hey, Sakura. [16:57] yama     Can I help you carry those? [16:59] yama     It must be hard work for a girl. [17:01] yama     You could get hurt! [17:03] sak     I-I'm okay... [17:19] yama     Hey, what's wrong? [17:22] yama     Wh-What the heck? [17:24] aya     Oh... nothing. [17:27] yama     Hey, are you okay? [17:30] ibu     Leave me alone. I'm fine. [17:34] sak     That must hurt, though... [17:36] aya     You're Ibuki of Class C, aren't you? [17:38] aya     Did your classmates do something to you? [17:42] yama     We're Class D students. [17:45] yama     You can come to our base     camp with us, if you want. [17:48] ---     Yeah. [17:50] ibu     Didn't you hear me? I'm in Class C. [17:54] ibu     That means I'm your enemy. [17:56] yama     We can't leave you all alone! [17:58] yama     Right? [18:00] yama     We'll stay with you until you can walk again. [18:04] ibu     How stupid can you be? [18:06] ibu     You're way too trusting. [18:08] ibu     That would be unthinkable in my class. [18:13] ike     You can't start a fire     with just branches, see? [18:16] ike     But if we do it like this, [18:18] ike     I think it should work out. [18:27] ike     There we go! [18:28] sudo     You experienced campers know your stuff. [18:31] ike     That's the most basic of basics. [18:32] ike     Just learn that, and anyone can do it. [18:34] yama     That's so cool! [18:36] kushi     We're back! [18:40] kushi     You think this one's edible? [18:43] hara     Who knows? [18:44] kushi     Maybe they're blueberries! [18:47] ike     Those are bog bilberries! [18:49] ike     Did you find those, Kikyo-chan? [18:50] ike     That's amazing! [18:51] kushi     So, Kanji-kun, do you know what these are? [18:55] ike     Those are figs, I think! [18:57] ike     They're sweet and delicious, too! [18:59] ike     Boy, this takes me back! [19:01] karu     Really? [19:03] hira     Ike-kun, you know all about this, huh? [19:05] hira     That's really reassuring. [19:06] aya     Ike started the fire, too. [19:09] kushi     Kanji-kun, you're amazing! [19:10] sato     Yeah! [19:11] soto     He did a splendid job     starting the fire, as well! [19:13] yama     He found the water, too. [19:15] ino     I'm so glad we have someone     experienced with us! [19:19] ike     Karuizawa... I'm sorry about before. [19:23] karu     Wh-Where did that come from? [19:25] ike     I just remembered. [19:27] ike     The first time I went camping,     going to the bathroom was hard, [19:30] ike     and I complained to my parents a lot. [19:33] ike     It must be even harder for girls, huh? [19:36] aya     He can grasp the situation     himself and remain calm? [19:41] aya     He's a better man than I. [19:42] karu     I'm sorry, too... [19:45] karu     We've gotta put in the work now and then,     or we won't have any points left, huh? [19:49] hira     Can I say something, everyone? [19:51] hira     I'd like us all to rely on each other as     much as we can until the special test ends. [19:56] hira     I think we should aim to have at least 120 [19:59] hira     of our 300 S-points left over     by the time the test ends. [20:04] yuki     You mean you want to spend 180 S-points? [20:06] hira     Let's assume we had to buy food and     water for everyone for each meal. [20:10] hira     The most efficient way would be     the rations and mineral water set. SIGN    Food 10 S-points x 12 times = 120 S-points     Test Day 1 → Night      Test Day 2 → Morning/Night     Test Day 3 → Morning/Night     Test Day 4 → Morning/Night     Test Day 5 → Morning/Night     Test Day 6 → Morning/Night     Test Day 7 → Morning     Portable Toilet: 20 S-points     Boys' tent: 10 S-points     Total S-points spent:     120 + 20 + 10 = 150 S-points [20:17] sign     It's 10 S-points to cover     one meal for everyone. [20:19] sign     Two meals a day would make 20 S-points. [20:20] aya     What do you think? [20:21] hori     It's realistic. [20:22] sign     If we can make do with one meal tonight     and on the last day, that's a total of 120. [20:23] hori     I was turning over similar     numbers in my mind. [20:26] aya     Did you tell Hirata that? [20:26] sign     Adding in a portable toilet and     a tent for the boys makes 150. [20:28] hori     Certainly not. Don't be ridiculous. [20:30] sign     That leaves a budget of 30. [20:32] hira     120 S-points is a lot. [20:34] hira     Remember the results of     the midterms and finals. [20:38] karu     The change in Class A's points was... um... [20:42] yuki     It was 94. [20:43] hira     And this is our lower limit. SIGN    Budget for unforeseen circumstances: 30 S-points Predicted points deducted from initial 300 S-points: 300-150-30 = 120 S-points S-points remaining at end of test = 120 S-points [20:45] hira     For each day we can find     our own food and water... [20:48] kushi     ...we can save 20 S-points! [20:52] hira     If we can spend a week without needing     drinking water, we can save over 50 points. [20:56] karu     I see... [20:59] ike     Hirata, let's try it! [21:01] hira     Right. Let's all do our best! [21:09] aya     Sorry about this. [21:10] aya     Just wait a bit longer. [21:13] aya     Hirata and the others are discussing you now. [21:17] ibuki     No need to go out of your way. [21:19] ibuki     I'll be driven out soon enough. [21:22] aya     I wouldn't be so sure. [21:23] aya     We have a lot of trusting types. [21:25] kushi     You're Ibuki-san, right? [21:28] kushi     Here, eat this. [21:33] ibu     You're all idiots. Every one of you... [21:36] kushi     Come on, just eat it. [21:38] kushi     We can have a talk later, too. [21:41] sudo     God damn it! [21:43] sudo     Koenji! [21:45] boy     How can he do this? [21:46] girl     He's so selfish... [21:48] girl     What will happen to our points, then? [21:48] kushi     What happened? [03:26] hori     I don't mind doing recon, but I'd personally     rather avoid unnecessary movement. [03:31] hori     I don't want to waste stamina by wandering     around without a clear goal in mind. [03:47] (Flashback) ryu     Look forward to it. [03:49] aya     It's clear they've placed     a target on your back. [03:56] hori     That's true. [04:09] ichi     There's plenty of fruit in the forest,     and we can probably catch fish in the ocean. [04:14] ichi     We've got the waterfalls     for fresh water, too. [04:17] hori     Class B never fails to impress. [04:19] hori     It's far more disciplined than I imagined. [04:23] ichi     It was really hard at first! [04:25] ichi     But we rigged a few things up,     and now we're making it work. [04:28] hori     Ichinose-san, is it safe to assume that     our relationship is one of cooperation? [04:34] ichi     Sure! That's how I think of it. [04:36] kan     Sorry to interrupt... [04:39] ichi     What is it? [04:40] kan     I was wondering if there was     anything I could do to help. [04:44] ichi     Well... why don't you help Chihiro-chan     and the others over there? [04:48] kan     Understood. Thank you very much. [04:53] hori     He seems rather distant, for a classmate. [04:56] ichi     His name's Kaneda-kun. [04:58] ichi     Apparently he had a falling-out with     Class C and got driven out of the camp. [05:03] ichi     Oh, sorry... I'd better get back to work. [05:07] ichi     Come back to visit soon, okay? [05:10] hori     It's an upgrade from Class D in every way. [05:13] hori     I have to admit that. [05:22] hori     We can't see what's going     on inside from here. [05:26] aya     Let's go have a look. [05:27] hori     W-Wait! [05:28] aya     We can't afford to be intimidated     just because they're Class A. [05:32] hori     What are you trying to do? [05:34] hori     There's nothing to be gained     from revealing ourselves. [05:37] aya     Skulking around here won't     get us anywhere, either. [05:51] yahi     What do you want? [05:53] hori     We came here to scout you out. [05:55] hori     Do you have a problem with that? [06:02] hori     How very underhanded. [06:04] hori     We're going in. [06:05] yahi     Hey. [06:06] hori     What? [06:07] yahi     This place is occupied by Class A.     You're not allowed in. [06:11] hori     Oh? You've taken occupancy of this spot? [06:15] yah     That's right. Now leave. [06:17] hori     But there's no rule saying     I can't enter the cave. [06:21] hori     I can't use a spot that's currently occupied, [06:23] hori     but I have the right to see what's inside. [06:26] hori     What you're doing is monopolization. [06:29] hori     I think maybe you're the     ones breaking the rules. [06:34] kat     What are you doing? [06:36] yah     Katsuragi-san! [06:38] kat     I don't recall giving you     permission to invite visitors. [06:42] hori     I just want to see what's inside. [06:45] hori     I can't imagine how that's against the rules. [06:48] kat     Go ahead and look, then. [06:51] kat     But be prepared for consequences. [06:53] kat     One class occupies one spot, [06:57] kat     and they protect it until the test ends. [07:00] kat     If you try to break this unspoken rule, [07:05] kat     there will be war. [07:10] kat     It's best to avoid that sort of trouble. [07:29] hori     You've got to be kidding me... [07:31] hori     What is Class C thinking? [07:34] komi     Um... [07:35] komi     Ryuen-san wants to see you. [07:38] ryu     Hey. [07:40] hori     You seem to be living the high life. [07:42] ryu     Oh, we are. [07:44] ryu     It's our summer vacation,     and we're going to enjoy it. [07:48] ryu     Right? [07:49] ishi     Y-Yes, sir... [07:51] hori     When a leader is incompetent,     it ends up hurting those beneath him. [07:55] ryu     Ishizaki. [07:56] ishi     Y-Yes, sir. [07:57] ru     It's warm. [07:59] ishi     I'm sorry, sir... [08:02] ryu     For just 100 or 200 class points, [08:05] ryu     you people will endure starvation,     heat, and exhaustion... [08:11] ryu     Just the thought of it     makes me want to laugh. [08:14] hori     I was a fool to come here on my guard. [08:17] ryu     Who's the fool here? [08:20] ryu     Is it me? [08:23] ryu     Or you? [08:26] ishi     Ryuen-san... [08:32] ryu     This is the way I do things. [08:34] ryu     There can be nothing more or less. [08:38] hori     I see. [08:39] hori     Do as you wish, then. [08:41] hori     This is best for us, anyway. [08:44] hori     Oh, and there's one other     thing I wanted to ask. [08:47] hori     You know Ibuki-san, don't you? [08:50] ryu     She's in our class. [08:53] ryu     What about her? [08:55] hori     Her face was swollen. [08:58] hori     What happened to her? [09:00] ryu     A ruler has no need for disobedient servants. [09:03] ryu     I just issued an appropriate punishment. [09:10] hori     You used all of your points     on the first day, didn't you? [09:14] ryu     That's right. [09:16] ryu     I used all of our points. [09:19] ryu     So no matter what happens to Ibuki, [09:20] ryu     I don't have to worry     about losing any points. SIGN    If S-points reach zero, then even if actions are taken that would cause a loss of S-points, no penalty will be applied to the class or individual, nor will there be any deduction of class points or private points after the test ends. [09:24] aya     The rules say that, [09:26] aya     even if you lose all 300 S-points,     you can't get into negative numbers. [09:30] aya     He's negated that effect. [09:33] hori     A simplistic way of thinking. [09:35] hori     You're wasting all the class     points we've been offered. [09:38] ryu     Forget all that and come play with me. [09:42] ryu     I'll prepare a special tent for us. [09:46] hori     Let's go, Ayanokoji-kun. [09:48] hori     Being here is only making me sick. [09:51] ryu     Suzune, come back any time     you want to have a little fun. [09:55] ryu     I'll give you a real taste of heaven. [10:06] hori     Absurd, isn't it? [10:08] hori     Their self-destruction actually benefits us. [10:10] aya     Yeah. [10:11] hori     You need to conserve wherever you can,     or you won't last the full week. [10:17] aya     He's not planning to last the week. [10:21] hori     What do you mean? [10:22] aya     It's simple. [10:24] aya     He'll do what Koenji did. [10:27] aya     They just have to claim they're sick,     or they can't handle the stress, [10:30] aya     or some other reason, then drop out. [10:33] aya     Then they can all return to the ship     and enjoy their summer vacation. [10:38] hori     You mean he'd given up on the     test itself from the start? [10:42] aya     The test is about the freedom to     choose, in every sense of the term. [10:45] aya     Ryuen's approach may be one correct answer. [10:50] hori     It's beyond my comprehension. [10:52] aya     A zero point strategy... [10:55] aya     Interesting. SIGN    Test, Day 3 [11:56] aya     Morning, Hirata. [11:58] hira     Morning, Ayanokoji-kun. Did I wake you? [12:01] aya     No, it's just hard to sleep soundly     in an environment like this. [12:07] aya     My back hurts. [12:14] hira     That feels nice. [12:16] aya     It must be hard being the one     keeping the class together. [12:19] hira     I do it because I like it, that's all. [12:22] hira     If it keeps everyone in the class     happy, that's enough for me. SIGN    Summer Special Test Rules SIGN    Each class will choose one student to be their leader.     During the test, leaders cannot be changed without a legitimate reason.     On the last day of the test, each class can declare who they think is the leader of the other classes. For each leader guessed correctly, that class receives 50 bonus points.     If the leader is guessed incorrectly, the class loses 50 points as a penalty.     In addition, a class whose leader is guessed correctly loses 50 points as a penalty,     and loses all bonus points gained during the test. SIGN    Test, Day 4 [12:45] aya     Are you sure you want     to be paired up with me? [12:47] sak     Yeah. Sorry. [12:50] sak     I know I'm kind of a drag during searches... [12:53] aya     Aren't you afraid people will start to talk? [12:56] sak     No, I don't mind that at all. [12:59] sak     Besides... [13:02] sak     When we set out on this trip,     I was really down at first. [13:07] sak     I have no friends, so going on     a trip wouldn't be fun anyway. [13:12] sak     But... [13:13] sak     Now, I'm a little glad I came. [13:19] aya     I see. [13:22] sak     It's too bad... [13:24] sak     If I had my camera, I could     take a great picture right now. [13:34] ichi     Huh? [13:35] ichi     Everyone's gone... [13:37] kami     Ayanokoji, were you out on recon, too? [13:40] aya     No, we were just exploring the forest     and ended up here on the beach. [13:46] ichi     I was hoping to take a guess at     Class C's leader, at least... [13:50] kami     The goal of the test is to increase     your point total as much as possible. [13:54] kami     The minute he abandoned that, Ryuen lost. [13:57] ichi     The straightforward strategy     is best for us, yeah. [14:03] aya     Ichinose, there's something     I wanted to ask you. [14:06] ichi     What's that? [14:07] aya     Do you know anything about     Katsuragi from Class A? [14:11] ichi     Katsuragi-kun, huh? [14:13] ichi     Sakayanagi-san is sitting the test out, [14:17] ichi     so Katsuragi-kun seems to have     taken leadership of Class A, but... [14:21] kami     Katsuragi's a sharp guy. [14:23] kami     Even with Sakayanagi's absence, I doubt     they'll suffer any internal discord. [14:28] ichi     But it's probably not any fun for     the people on Sakayanagi-san's side. [14:33] ichi     Those two are opposite extremes, after all. [14:36] aya     Opposite extremes? [14:37] ichi     A reformist and a conservative, basically. [14:40] ichi     They're polar opposites in     how they approach things. [14:43] ichi     They're always butting     heads over that, I hear. [14:47] aya     Sakayanagi. [14:51] ike     Looks like we made it through another day! [14:53] ike     By the way, I saw the Class C     guys heading back to the ship. [14:58] ike     Hirata, do you know anything about that? [15:00] hira     No, I don't... [15:02] karu     They probably just got sick     of island life and gave up. [15:06] yama     The whole class? Can you even do that? [15:09] karu     How should I know? [15:13] kushi     Hey. [15:16] kushi     What will you do, Ibuki-san? [15:19] ibu     I don't even want to look at those people. [15:21] ibu     I'll stay here. [15:23] sudo     Seems kinda suspicious to me... [15:26] kushi     Sudo-kun. [15:27] sudo     Hey. Do you know anything about this? [15:30] ibu     Huh? I don't know what you're talking about. [15:32] sudo     Hold it! [15:33] ibu     Keep your hands off me! [15:35] sudo     What's with that attitude? [15:37] sudo     We helped you. You ought     to help us out a little! [15:40] ibu     I didn't ask you to help me. [15:43] ibu     Your people just decided to do it. [15:46] ibu     Wasting your valuable points...     How stupid can you get? [15:49] sudo     What was that?! [15:50] hira     Sudo-kun! [15:51] ibu     Hit me if you want to. [15:52] hira     Both of you, calm down. [15:54] hira     This is no time to be fighting among friends. [15:56] ibu     Friends? How trusting can you get? [15:59] kushi     Ibuki-san, are you okay? [16:04] sudo     Damn it! What's her problem?! SIGN    Test, Day 5 [16:13] shino     Hey, boys! [16:16] shino     Boys! Wake up! [16:18] shino     Wake up already! [16:18] sudo     What the hell? [16:22] hira     What's going on? [16:26] shin     Hirata-kun. [16:27] shin     Awful news! [16:29] hira     What could it be this early in the morning? [16:32] shino     It probably has nothing to     do with you, Hirata-kun... [16:36] shino     But there's something we need to find out. [16:39] shino     This morning... Karuizawa-san's     underwear went missing. [16:44] shino     Karuizawa-san's in our tent, crying. [16:47] shino     Kushida-san and the others     are comforting her, but... [16:50] ike     W-Wait a minute!     Why are you suspecting u— [16:53] shino     Why do you think? [16:54] shino     It's obvious that one of you     stole them overnight! [16:57] sudo     It was probably that Ibuki girl, not us! [17:00] shino     A girl would never steal something like that! [17:03] ike     How can you be so sure? [17:04] shino     The point is, we can't camp in the     same place as an underwear thief. [17:08] girls     Yeah! [17:09] hira     Hey, everyone, calm down... [17:11] hira     Do you have any proof that     it was a boy who stole them? [17:15] shino     That's why we came to you, Hirata-kun. [17:16] shino     We want you to find the culprit. [17:19] hira     The culprit? [17:21] shino     First, we request a search     of all the boys' bags! [17:25] hira     Okay. [17:27] hira     But to protect their privacy, could you     allow the boys to handle the search? [17:36] sudo     This is starting to piss me off... [17:38] yama     They don't have any evidence     that a boy did it! It's nuts! [17:45] aya     What's wrong? [17:46] ike     Uh, nothing. [17:48] yama     Hang on... Are you the one who stole them? [17:52] ike     Dumbass! N-No way! [17:53] yama     Hey. Don't tell me... [17:57] ike     What? Are you suspecting me? [18:00] yama     Show me your bag! [18:01] ike     Hey! Cut it out! [18:04] aya     Ah. [18:07] yama     Caught red-handed! [18:08] ike     I-It wasn't me, I'm telling you! [18:10] ike     Th-They were just in there somehow! [18:13] yama     No need to make excuses, man. [18:16] ike     I'm telling you, I don't     know how they got there! [18:20] ike     Hey, Ayanokoji! You believe me, right? [18:24] aya     I can't be certain you're not the culprit,     under the current circumstances. [18:29] ike     Ayanokoji! [18:32] aya     But if you were the culprit,     I don't think you'd be this careless. [18:36] ike     Right?! [18:37] yama     So, you think someone stuck     the panties in Ike's bag? [18:41] ike     Yeah! That's what it's gotta be! [18:44] sudo     Hey! Hurry it up! [18:46] ike     Wh-What do I do? [18:48] ike     I'm in serious trouble here! [18:52] yama     Good luck! [18:55] aya     You'll just have to hide them. [18:57] ike     Hide them?! Where? [18:58] ike     I'm totally panicking here! [19:00] ike     If you think I should hide them,     you should handle it! [19:03] ike     Okay? Okay? [19:03] aya     Wait, I... [19:05] ike     I'm on my way! [19:09] aya     You've got to be kidding... [19:13] hira     We searched them all. [19:15] shino     For real? [19:16] hira     Yeah, it's clear now. [19:18] hira     None of the boys were behind it. [19:21] hira     We can let everyone put     their stuff away now, right? [19:24] hira     After that, we can talk. [19:26] shino     I demand a pat-down. [19:28] shino     An underwear thief is a pervert. [19:31] shino     You don't know where he     might be keeping them. [19:33] ike     G-Give us a break! [19:36] ino     Ike-kun's been acting pretty     fishy this whole time. [19:37] matsu     You think he's the one who did it? [19:38] mi     Gross! [19:40] ike     Fine, I get it. [19:42] ike     Search me if you want! [19:44] aya     Hey, if you lead the conversation     down that path... [19:47] shino     We will, then. [19:49] shino     Hirata-kun, if you please. [19:55] aya     The worst possible situation. [19:57] aya     There's no talking my way out of this. [20:00] aya     Maybe I'd be at least a little     better off if I told the truth... [20:04] hira     Sorry. I'll make this fast. [20:10] aya     It's over. [20:15] hira     Ayanokoji-kun doesn't have them, either. [20:18] hira     It really wasn't a boy. [20:20] shino     Really? [20:21] shino     Well, we'll trust you... [20:23] hira     Thanks. [20:28] hira     Well, I'll let the others know. [20:31] shino     Okay. See you later. [20:35] aya     Hirata. [20:37] aya     Can we talk for a minute? [20:46] aya     Why didn't you tell them? [20:49] hira     I thought so... That was     the underwear, wasn't it? [20:53] aya     Yeah. [20:54] hira     Did you steal it, Ayanokoji-kun? [20:56] aya     No, I didn't. [20:58] hira     I believe you. [21:00] hira     You're not the kind of person who'd do that. [21:04] hira     Do you mind if I hold on to the underwear? [21:08] aya     Are you sure? [21:11] hira     I'm the one who would be least     damaged by being named the culprit. [21:17] hira     I'm her boyfriend, after all. [21:20] hira     I believe you're not the     culprit, Ayanokoji-kun. [21:24] hira     That's why I saved you. [21:27] hira     And, this isn't a conditional thing...     but would you try to find the real culprit? [21:34] aya     Me, find the culprit? [21:41] aya     Well, I'll try, at least. [21:45] hira     Thanks. [21:47] hira     And if you do find the culprit,     I'd like you to tell me first. [21:53] hira     I don't want you to tell anyone else. [21:56] aya     Are you asking me to cover up the truth? [22:01] hira     Cover up the truth? [22:03] hira     I guess that is what this is... [04:11] karu     Who knows? [04:13] karu     Everyone in C retired. [04:15] karu     It was probably one of them. [04:19] hira     Our key card was seen? [04:21] aya     Yeah. Though you're the only one I've told. [04:25] aya     It suggests Ibuki infiltrated     Class D to find our leader. [04:30] aya     She probably stole the panties, too. [04:32] hira     But why? [04:35] hira     No, thinking won't get us anywhere... [04:38] hira     The greater worry is...     tomorrow, they'll name our leader... [04:44] aya     The penalty from our drop-outs and a guessed     leader alone will be minus 110 S-points. [04:50] aya     Having our leader guessed will     negate all our bonus points. [04:53] hira     Which only leaves about 50 S-points? [04:57] hira     Once the test results are revealed,     the finger-pointing will start... [05:02] aya     It'll become a witch trial. [05:06] hira     I thought this test would be a chance     for our class to come together... [05:12] hira     I thought, if we could work     together to beat this, [05:15] hira     it would forge bonds between us. [05:19] hira     But... [05:22] hira     This could be the end of Class D. [14:17] ichi     There's nothing in this school     you can't buy with points. [14:21] kami     Yeah, that's right... [14:24] ichi     It's really expensive,     but you can buy it, you know... [14:29] ichi     The right to join the class you want. [14:44] ibu     Sorry. [14:50] ryu     I've figured it out. [14:55] ryu     The reason for their high score, [14:58] ryu     and the reason ours was zero. [15:01] ryu     It's because we didn't     guess Class D's leader. [15:07] aya     You're not our leader, Horikita. [15:10] hori     What? But the card... [15:16] hori     What's your name doing on it? [15:19] aya     Just before the test ended,     I changed D's leader. [15:25] aya     You can't change leaders     without a good reason. SIGN    Each class will choose one student to be their leader. [15:29] aya     Which means that if you do have a     good reason, you can change leaders. [15:35] aya     A leader's failing health is a good reason. [15:40] aya     As a result, Ryuen and Katsuragi named     you as leader, and they were wrong. [15:46] hori     You arranged all of this, didn't you? [15:51] aya     I did. [15:54] aya     Ibuki was a spy, so I destroyed     her digital camera. [15:58] aya     As a result, Ibuki would need     to steal the key card itself. [16:04] aya     I waited until your condition     had deteriorated sufficiently... [16:09] (Flashback) ---     Flashback     Test, Day 6 [16:10] (Flashback) aya     I'll give you Sakura's email address     if you'll do something for me. [16:16] aya     I intentionally got you to     show your card to Ibuki, [16:18] aya     got you dirty, [16:21] aya     got you to visit the waterfall, [16:23] aya     and lured Ibuki into stealing your card. [16:28] aya     I used the arson to throw     the camp into a panic, [16:31] aya     giving Ibuki the opening     she needed to escape. [16:36] aya     Then, just as they'd planned it,     she went to show Ryuen the card. [16:41] hori     Then you got me to drop out     and changed our leader. [16:47] aya     Initially, I'd hoped to earn     points through spot occupation, [16:52] aya     but I saw Katsuragi leaving     a spot with a card in hand. [16:57] hori     So A's leader was Katsuragi-kun? [17:00] aya     No, Katsuragi is a cautious man. [17:03] aya     He wouldn't do anything so careless. [17:06] aya     He wouldn't even occupy a spot at a     time when someone else might see him. [17:09] aya     It was a performance to conceal [17:11] aya     the fact that someone else had occupied     the spot without asking him first. [17:16] aya     Thus, I was able to surmise that A's leader     was Yahiko, the person with him then. [17:25] aya     As for Class C, I knew that     Ryuen was still on the island. [17:32] aya     When we ran into Ryuen,     there was a radio next to him. [17:37] aya     Ibuki had one of the same radios. [17:41] aya     If Ryuen himself was in contact with Ibuki, [17:44] aya     it meant he must still be on the island. [17:47] aya     I became convinced that Ryuen was C's leader. [17:51] aya     It was at that point that I switched     from a spot occupation strategy [17:55] aya     to a leader identification     strategy, and I used you. [17:59] aya     I left Class B alone. [18:01] aya     In the long run, eroding our alliance with     Class B would be to our disadvantage, [18:06] aya     and there was a spy from C in Class B, too, [18:09] aya     so I confirmed that their leader would be     guessed even without any action from me. [18:14] hori     And as you surmised, [18:16] hori     B's leader was guessed,     causing them a serious loss of points. [18:19] aya     Having one's leader named     is a loss of 50 points. [18:23] aya     And all bonus points are negated as a result. [18:27] hori     You really put one over on everyone. [18:31] hori     You claim you have no interest     in reaching Class A. [18:34] hori     Why, then, did you help me? [18:38] hori     What is it that drives you? [18:40] hori     Why do— [18:41] hira     There she is! Horikita-san!
