You can tell that the author has researched the current trends; what he wrote
is extremely efficient, and it is written better than similar books out there
right now. Though it lacks any distinguishing features, it's already at a level
that it can be published, and it'll probably sell (picking my nose).

This piece is so full of personality, and both the characters and
the way the story develops are insane. A perfect contrast to the other
honorable mention. It's rough around the edges and there are a lot of
problems... Honestly, I'm not even sure if we should release this to
the masses, but it's got some mysterious appeal to it.
This is definitely something only this author could write, and I'm
extremely curious to see how he develops as an author from here on.
I'm probably the only one out of the judges to say this, but I think the
best thing to come out of this newcomer award is the fact that we found
this author.
I now have another author to look forward to in the future.
